For electric ovens, a failed bake element (the coil at the bottom) is the most common cause. For gas ovens, a faulty igniter that won't light the burner is usually to blame. Both are straightforward repairs we complete in a single visit.

Uneven heating usually means a failing bake or broil element, a faulty temperature sensor, or a worn door gasket letting heat escape. Older ovens may also have calibration drift — the actual temperature differs from the set temperature. We can diagnose and fix all of these.

Grease and food residue baked onto the oven floor or heating elements is the most common cause. If you've cleaned the oven recently and it's still smoking, a failing element that's arcing or shorting out may be the issue — call us right away in that case.

The igniter may be dirty (food debris blocks the spark) or worn out. A clicking sound with no flame usually means a clogged burner port or a faulty spark module. Clean the burner cap and igniter first; if that doesn't work, we'll diagnose it.

A worn door gasket or damaged door hinges are the usual culprits. A poorly sealing door causes heat loss, uneven cooking, and higher energy bills. Door gaskets and hinges are parts we stock and can typically replace same day.

A weak bake element, a failing temperature sensor, or a malfunctioning igniter (gas ovens) can all cause slow preheating. If your oven takes significantly longer than 15-20 minutes to preheat, it's worth having it looked at.
